I have used different coffee grinders in the last 10 years and this is one of the best. It has one of the most powerful motor for such a small body. It is a bit noisy specially in the morning, however it's only a minor issue. Since I only use it to grind the coffee, there is no need to clean it everyday. I love it and in fact I'm very happy with my decision to buy two of them at the same time. I strongly recommend to everyone who wants to have a nice cup of fresh coffee in the morning.

I have had my grinder for 12 years now. It works the same today as it did new, and I use it about 10 times a week. For the money, it can't be beat. That said, this grinder is not for everybody.

This grinder is perfect for anybody with a coffee maker that uses #4 paper CONE filters (or slightly bigger or smaller). I emphasize PAPER because a permanent filter is not good for this grinder. Like any blade grinder, it will produce some dust. That creeps through the permafilter and into your pot is makes sludge. It sloppies up your coffee. Nothing gets through paper filters though.

It also grinds coffee fine. You really don't have a choice. It is ok for espresso as well if you are not a connoisseur. If you try a coarse grind with this unit, you will be out of luck. If you don't grind long enough, you will leave a few beans whole or in large pieces.

If you need anything other than a fine grind and don't mind using paper filters (I prefer them), then look no further.

I deducted a star because it has limitations, but the truth is, for probably 80% of the coffee drinkers out there, this grinder is all you need.

It grinds coffee. It works with no problems after months of heavy use (daily grinding of beans). Buy it.

I bought this model in 1983, and it has worked well. This morning it finally bit the dust. I use it almost daily, so you do the math. For the price, it can't be beat. I was delighted to see that I can replace it with the same model (thought only in black and white, not the chocolate brown I bought when I was a student). I probably shortened it's useful life because I find that it gives a better grind if I aggitate it a little when grinding. This gives a more even grind, and helps keep the beans from being ground too finely. I suspect shaking it during use resulted in subtle neurologic damage. It will be buried with full military honors.

I owned the Krups coffee grinder for 9 years before it broke. I wouldn't consider buying another (maybe the Krups brushed metal because it goes better with my kitchen, but for $10 more, not worth it to me when the current model is so good). Ten seconds is all you need to grind beans for a perfect cup of coffee in a Melitta filter. 20 seconds for espresso and 30 for Turkish. I use the Krups solely for grinding coffee. I use an old hot chocolate measuring spoon to scoop the beans (two tablespoons to every cup of coffee) and grind the beans for 10 seconds. I dump the grounds out into the lid and from the lid into the Melitta filter (this causes the least mess). I clean it with a brush once every other week. This grinder came with me from CA to NYC and back to CA and died today. I mourn it's loss, but am purchasing the same item. Worth every penny...and at $19.99 over 9 years, that's less than half a penny a day.

The Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder is a "never fails" standard. This unit grinds smoothly, swiftly, and thoroughly. Works every time. I have had 3 or 4 of these same grinders over the last 15 years, and used them hard at the workplace. I've tried other blade grinders, and they aren't as good, even at twice the price.
